Why?
Why this exists, who it is for, and what kind of thinking lives here.
Why this project exists
A lot of the most important discussion in this space is fragmented across conference clips, posts, and hallway conversations. This is a durable archive for working ideas.
Most content about sign language research and technology is still published in written English. While there are some admirable bilingual efforts in this space, we need more! Core material here is signed first, in my own style, with written notes as a companion. I hope to add ASL translations for secondary copy such as this paragraph in the future.
Why you?
If you work anywhere near sign language technology, you are already making decisions that shape access, trust, and outcomes. This space is for Deaf professionals, interpreters, researchers, policy thinkers, and AI builders who want sharper language, better questions, and more grounded decisions.
Why me?
My name is Jeff Shaul. I am a Deaf backend engineer at Sign-Speak, co-owner of GoSign.AI, and a member of the Coalition of Sign Language Equity in Technology (CoSET). I develop sign language-first systems, and I use this site as a public notebook.
